General description of the cooking holiday

The tour starts in Le Marche, where we stay at our Caravanserraglio Countryhouse in comfortable apartments with swimming pool, from where we make day trips in the Marche area, guided by your host and art historian Phaedra.

The cooking class at the Caravanserraglio restaurant is held in English, by the Italian chef and host Ennio.

The maximum number of people for each group is eight, to guarantee our guests a personal entertainment and a good service.

The art holiday is designed in such a way to offer our guests the possibility to alternate guided visits with our mini bus, with moments at leisure to relax or to do individually small excursions with the guests' own transport. The best solution therefore would be to hire a car at your arrival at the airport and to drop it there again at your departure so that you can freely move in the area, to do shopping for example, or to go out for dinner individually during the 'free' evenings etc.

All participants receive a list with restaurants near the accommodation, and brochures about the area.

Art Holiday 'Monasteries in Le Marche'

Live and traditions of the medieval monasteries in Central Italy is the guiding line during the excursions. The friars were important patrons of art throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and their wishes and religious ideas influenced the local arts in a striking way.

On many idyllic locations - in green natural parks, in the mountains, on top of the hills far away from civilization, but also in the historical centre’s of villages and cities - early Medieval monasteries, abbeys, churches and chapels have survived, and witness today of the social function of these ancient religious centres.

We visit three monasteries in Le Marche: The Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra surrounded by woods and Roman remains, the Augustinian monastery of S.Nicola in the heart of the Medieval city Tolentino and the monastery of Macereto in the National Park of the Sibilini Mountains.
